On 5 October 2026, the NGO Education Partnership (NEP) and its member organizations joined the national celebration of World Teachers’ Day at the National Institute of Education (NIE) in Phnom Penh.
World Teachers’ Day is observed every year to honor teachers and recognize their role in building strong education systems. This year, teachers, education leaders, government officials, development partners, and civil society organizations came together to celebrate the dedication of Cambodia’s teaching workforce.
NEP and its members took part to show their support for teachers across the country. Our members work in 25 provinces. They see every day how much teachers give to their students and communities. Many teachers work in remote areas, in large classes, and with limited resources. They still help children learn, grow, and stay in school.
NEP believes that quality education starts with quality teachers. Teachers need respect, fair pay and working conditions, and continuous professional development. They also need to be part of the decisions that shape education policy and practice.
Through its work on the teaching profession, NEP and its members will continue to:
- Work with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) and other partners to support teacher policy and reform.
- Bring teachers’ voices and field experience into policy dialogue.
- Support training, mentoring, and professional growth for teachers.
- Promote inclusive, safe, and supportive schools where every child can learn.
“Teachers are at the heart of education transformation,” said Chetra, Executive Director of NEP. “On this World Teachers’ Day, we say thank you to every teacher in Cambodia. Your work shapes the future of our children and our nation. NEP and its members stand with you.”
NEP extends its sincere thanks to MoEYS, the National Institute of Education, and all partners who organized and joined this meaningful event.
Happy World Teachers’ Day to all teachers in Cambodia!
